This site, based on teachings of His Divine Grace A.C Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada, Founder Acharya of International Society for Krsna Consciousness, is a humble offering unto our Spiritual Master, His Holiness Indradyumna Swami, and all the worldwide Vaishnavas.

It is said that “example is better than precept.” In my short journey of Krsna Consciousness, I found stories/examples/analogies to be valuable instruments in helping to better understand the spiritual subject matter, which is inconceivable to mundane senses. I, personally, started using these examples while sharing Krsna Consciousness with others. To make it more precise and authentic, I started documenting these stories/examples along with the source, for my own future reference. I wanted to catalogue all of these in a site for ease of search, categorization etc. As a side benefit, these are also accessible to other Vaishnavas in the preaching field, who may find them useful. The following are the main categories of these examples:

  1. Stories with lessons
  2. Analogies
  3. Pastimes of Srila Prabhupada
  4. Instructions for Sadhakas

Coincidentally, with the blessings of our Bhakti-Vaibhava teacher, HG Radha Krsna Prabhu from Houston, I started sequential Srimad Bhagavatam study with other devotees here in Seattle. We meet weekly once to read and discuss a section of verses from Srimad Bhagavatam. To go deeper in my study and in preparation for the class, I started reading Srila Prabhupada’s purports scrutinizingly, in addition to His lectures wherever applicable and started taking notes on them. Along with the notes, I’ve listed appropriate examples / discussion points which help enhance the understanding of Srila Prabhupada’s purports along with bringing forth key points for practical application in our devotional lives. In a nutshell, I plan to share my Srimad Bhagavatam notes along with the audio recordings on this site for the following purposes:

  1. To save and organize my notes with links to entire stories elsewhere on the site for my own future reference.
  2. For use of reference material by the devotees in the study group during the class and later.
  3. To serve all other devotees who may embark on studying Srimad Bhagavatam deeply.

I also want to express my gratitude to Navya, Madhavi, Gunarupini devi dasi and Sangeetha for taking the time and effort to publish the content to this site. Last but not the least, I want to express my gratitude to my husband, Madhava Gauranga Das, for his steady support and encouragement in fulfilling my desires and aspirations in Krsna Consciousness and our twin 2 year old boys, Maharathi das and Nrsimha-Krsna das, for their cooperation.

Also, pray that this humble endeavor from our side, may assist devotees in their own personal journey of Krsna Consciousness.

Your servant,
Syamala dasi (April 10th, 2015)
